Language Lessons

To preserve the intangible.

A small worktable holds a hand grinder stuffed with a descending column of braided stalks of grain. Beneath it a tall pile of loose salt spills out onto the floor. Along the walls are books made illegible by coatings of salt. Each presents the same primary school language lesson in either braille, morse code, or a cacophony of young voices – “I am. You are. We are.”
